The Polish node, SLICES-PL, is a joint undertaking of two independent projects from Polish Roadmap of Research Infrastructures, PIONIER-LAB and PL-5G. SLICES-PL has been officially recognized and supported by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

The initiative is a continuation of activities of Polish centres in the field of building a dispersed research infrastructure supporting the development of Polish science and the knowledge-based economy.

The initiative is a response to the demand for research infrastructure in the field of information and telecommunications technologies.
The planned node in Poland will consist of network, sensor and computing components (including computing elements at the edge of the network) that will enable advanced research in the field of telecommunications and IT.
The representative of Poland in the SLICES consortium is Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center (PSNC), which is the coordinator of the PIONIER-LAB project and a participant in the PL-5G project.
