Switzerland

Switzerland has engaged in a proactive strategy to extend its research infrastructure in view of supporting digital transformation. Its strategy priorities include energy, smart cities, smart industry, and smart agriculture. Compliance with the sustainable development principles and climate protection are also part of its top priorities.

In the context of SLICES, the Swiss participation is represented and coordinated by IoT Lab and Mandat International in cooperation with the University of Geneva, EPFL, ETH, University for Applied Studies Western Switzerland, and Bern University of Applied Sciences. The ambition of the Swiss cluster is to facilitate access to SLICES infrastructure to all academic and research institutions interested in performing research in the ICT, digital transformation and network technologies.

The Swiss cluster will also support the SLICES community collaboration with the international organizations of the UN system, for instance in the domain of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and with global standard development organizations, such as the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).
